Long Awaited Accomplishment

Today was a very big day for me in regards to my career.  I have worked at Raiders Pass for over 8 1/2 years as the Assistant General Manager.  Over the past several years we have practically had a revolving door on the General Manager's office.  We have had 5 different managers in 5 years.  Craziness!!

Each time the position came open I would express my interest in becoming the General Manager and each time I ended up being 100% overlooked because my company had someone else in mind.  Someone that they had promised to get back to Texas, someone they promised to get back into our company and the list goes on and on.

Early this month, once again, Raiders Pass was left without a GM.  And once again I took on the GM duties while doing my current duties without any expectations that I would get the promotion.

However, today that all changed.  Today I was promoted to the General Manager's position at Raiders Pass.  After 8 1/2 years I have finally gotten the promotion that I so deserve.  Now I am hoping that our Leasing Manager will get the promotion she deserves and take over the AGM responsibilities.

Hallelujah!!!!  It has been a long and hard road, but I am a stronger person because of it all!  Persistence DOES pay off!!!

The Innocence of a Child

This weekend was full of running errands and working on some more projects around the house.  On Saturday, I ran several errands with my mom and my niece, Elizabeth.  At one point we were in Dillards in the pajama section when Kinsley comes up to me and says, "Mom, I am going to buy this with my money!"  She was holding a hot pink lingerie piece.  I say to her "uh, I don't think so" and I tell her to go put it up to which she responds "but mom, I NEED one of these" while holding the attached thong in her hand.  When I asked her what she needed that for she replied, "so I can cover my eyes and dream away".  OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!  Lord, help me now!!  I am pretty sure we couldn't have laughed harder....and Elizabeth was mortified.

Sunday I spent the day relaxing inside because the sky was completely brown outside.  We had a cold front blowing through and the winds were blowing about 60+ miles per hour.  I decided to work on one of my photo canvas that I was wanting to make.  I found the idea on Pinterest, and the instructions were great.  I love how it turned out, other than seeing the brush strokes after the Mod Podge dried.  I am still going to make a few more so maybe I will find a way to perfect the process.

Well, I am off to hit the hay.  I have a long and busy work week ahead of me complete with the TTU Housing Fair and Open House events every night....should be interesting!

An Amazing Love

The past couple of weeks have been a crazy whirlwind!  Between work, school and projects around the house we have had NO free time.  However, I finally finished painting my dressing area.  Only took me almost a year. It looks great and I can't wait to decorate it sometime this weekend.

This past weekend my wonderful parents celebrated an amazing milestone.  On January 14, 2012 they celebrated their 48th Anniversary!!!  What an amazing accomplishment....especially these days!  I wish them many more years of happiness and love.  I am so thankful that we all have such amazing role models when it comes to having a successful marriage.  They have definitely been the best role models that my sisters and I could have ever asked for, especially for our own children.  I pray that my kids feel the same way about Chris and I when we are older, and I pray that they find Godly spouses who love them.

Well...this is the only free time I have had in forever so I am getting off of this computer and chilling out!

Let's Hear it for the Girls!!

For the past 3 years Kinsley has been a part of All Star Cheer.  All Star is a noncompetitive cheerleading squad that learns a dance routine and performs at half time of local basketball games.  Kinsley loves cheerleading and loves being able to perform in front of everyone.  Today they  performed at halftime of the Idalou basketball game.

Miss Kinsley waiting for the dance to begin!

Dancing her little heart out and having a blast!!

This last picture is not very good because of where I was sitting in the gym.  This picture actually cut off several of the girls that compete in All Star.  All of the girls are from 4 years of age through the 6th grade.  They did an EXCELLENT job and I can't wait to watch them perform again!

New Year ~ New Beginnings

Well...2012 is here!!  Where in the world has time gone?  It seems like just yesterday it was December 1999 and everyone was panicking over computers not realizing the year 2000.  And yes, I realize that was now 12 years ago!  Or maybe it was just yesterday when our precious little girl was born(May 2004) or when our adorable son was born(April 2008).  I could go on and on.

Time is going WAY too fast and I want it to SLOW DOWN!!  My kids are getting big way too fast, Christmas seems like it comes around in like 3 months time and it seems like I am constantly chasing my tail.  I want time to slow down so I can enjoy my kids while they are young and spend more time with our family and friends.  With all of that being said, time is the reason why I have FINALLY started this blog.  I have read blogs of random strangers for years and I have always thought it was so neat that they could look back at what their kids were doing or how much they had grown at any given time.  Time is forcing me to spend time blogging about our random days and special events so I can actually REMEMBER what we did when it is 2020 and I feel like it should be 2012.  Although I must admit that I will love being able to look back at what our life was life at this stage.

2011 was a great year for our family!  We spent New Years Eve together as a family.  Kinsley and I went to get pedicures earlier in the evening while Chris and Kallaway hung out next door at Caprock Cafe watching football.  I guess the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" is true.  My ornery son LOVES football just like his daddy and my sweet girl loves all things girly and blingy just like her momma.  Just look at that cheesy grin while sitting in the pedicure chair!

We rang in the New Year at home in bed.  Both kids were fast asleep long before midnight and we barely made it ourselves.  As you can see we are real party animals!

Hope everyone has a great 2012!!  I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for my family and friends!
