T-ball Madness

Kallaway is just like his daddy.  By this I mean, the kid LOVES all SPORTS!!!  He loves football, golf, baseball, basketball, soccer and anything else involving a ball.  And he wants to play it all one day.  The Idalou Little League has a t-ball division for 4-6 year olds.  Little League rules are that you must be 4 by April 30, 2012.  And guess who will turn 4 on April 28, 2012???  He is over the moon excited that he is going to be able to play "baseball".  Apparently t-ball just does not fit the sport in his mind.

Today was the actual "draft day" for T-ball.  Chris decided he wanted to coach Kallaway's team.  He went this morning and "drafted" our team.  We will be the Idalou Red Sox this year.  And we are very excited that our nephews, Coleman and Chisholm, and our niece, Gabby, will all be on our team as well.  This will definitely cut down on the number of games our parents and all of us have to attend! :)

We were in Lubbock today after the draft and decided to take Kallaway to practice at a park.  Let's just say he is fairly good for his age and he is not scared of the ball at all.  That makes this momma a little nervous.  While we were "practicing" we kept telling him what to do.  It was super funny because my niece, Elizabeth, was with us and was helping him.  At one point he was getting ready to bat and she was trying to get his feet lined up properly.  She was kicking the back of his heel in order to get him to move his foot up some.  Elizabeth told him, "Move your foot up."  Kallaway raised his foot completely up and was standing like a flamingo on one leg.  We all died laughing.  Then he kept missing the ball and Chris told him, "Put your glove down and stop the ball."  So, he threw the glove down and tried to catch it with just his hands.  We decided quickly that we needed to be more clear with our instructions for his age.

Getting ready to catch the ball.

He is soo excited and ready for his first real game!  And, truth be told....so are we.  It should be a lot of fun with many laughs.  I see many, many baseball games in my future.  And I honestly wouldn't want it any other way!

A Trip to the ZOO!!

Today we went to the Fort Worth Zoo!  They have the best zoo with wonderful exhibits.  We always have so much fun when we venture out for a day in the wild.
These two make this momma's heart happy!

 Checking out the monkeys!

Kallaway's favorite animal at the Zoo was the Alligator!!

My two handsome men!

The Zoo has this neat little train ride that takes you to the back side of the Zoo.  This sweet girl has the kindest heart of any kids I know.

My LOVE!  I am so blessed with such a wonderful husband and an amazing father for our children.  This man will do anything he can to make sure his children and I have everything we want and need.

Across from the Zoo there is a park that has the neatest train ride.  You can get on this train by the Zoo and it takes you all through this park.  It is about a 45 minute train ride, but it is so neat to ride along.  All in all it was a fabulous, fun-filled day with the three most important people in my life.  I am so thankful God has given me all three of them.

Weekend Getaway

We decided to have a quick weekend getaway this weekend.  We loaded up the car and headed to Fort Worth to spend some quality family time.  When we got to Fort Worth tonight we hit up one of our favorite restaurants, Pappadeaux.  Pappadeaux is a seafood restaurant that Chris and I both love.  Unfortunately, we don't have one in Lubbock; therefore, we jump at the chance to eat at them when we can.  The weather was beautiful so we sat on the patio and enjoyed the fresh air.

My three LOVES

Tonight we are headed to the indoor pool to let the kiddos swim and then tomorrow we are headed to the Fort Worth Zoo.

Mr.Gatti's fun

Tonight we went to Mr.Gatti's to celebrate our nieces birthday.  Gabby's birthday was actually December 27, but tonight they had a birthday party for her.  The kids always love Mr.Gatti's.  Then again...what's not to love?  They have pizza, games, balloons, face painting and the list goes on and on.

a stand alone broom

Has everyone else seen all of the pictures of the brooms standing on their own?  I don't know the full reasoning behind this, but it has something to do with the way the equator is lined up right now(I think).  Well, needless to say, curiosity got the best of us and we HAD to try it.

Yes, this is our broom standing alone!!  FREAKY!!

I left the broom "standing" while I was doing some other things around the house.  It stayed like this for at least 10 minutes and then I decided it was time to put the freaky broom back in the closet!!

Bowling and a Movie!

We took the kids bowling today.  We haven't gone bowling in forever, but the kids had a blast!  And yes, Chris and I enjoyed ourselves as well.  I forget how much I really enjoy bowling because we don't go very often.  Kallaway and Kinsley both did really good.  Did I mention who won the game??  I may or may not have beaten my extremely competitive husband.  I should have taken a picture of the scoreboard for proof!  His elbow was hurting....yeah good excuse babe! ;)
Chris trying to get a STRIKE!

Me doing my best!!

Kinsley giving it her best shot - with a little help from the bumpers!

I somehow missed getting a picture of Kallaway bowling.  I am guessing because I was usually helping him bowl/trying to make sure he didn't throw the bowling ball at the people in the next lane.  We bowled for an hour and then surprised the kids by taking them to see The Lorax.  They have both wanted to see it so we decided to give it a shot.  For anyone that knows my husband...you know that Chris is not a movie person.  He loves all sports and even a lot of crazy "reality" TV(Pawn Stars, Mob Wives, etc), but movies are just NOT his thing.  Therefore, going to the movie theater is like a huge deal for us!

Cheeseball - and no movie is complete without a little candy!

Ready for The Lorax to begin

As we were leaving the theater, Kallaway thought he HAD to play a video game.  Kinsley and Kallaway decided they wanted to play the racing game.  They both loved playing the "driving" game.  Kallaway won both times they raced....he may or may not have had a little help from Daddy.

Staycation 2012

We wanted to do something fun for our kids since we weren't planning on doing much for Spring Break.  Chris decided he wanted to get a hotel room here in Lubbock at a hotel with an indoor pool.  The kids were SUPER excited about getting to go swimming.  They are like fish and could stay in the water all day.  I think they get this from both Chris and I.
Look at these two - such GOOBERS!!

Kinsley showing off her floating skills!

Look at the fantastic handstand in the water!! :) She is SOOO her momma's child!

Kallaway showing off his impressive floating skills as  well.

Both of the kids had a blast.  We stayed at the Radisson here in Lubbock Friday night and they were practically the only ones in the pool.  They loved having the pool all to themselves!!

77 one day, 40 the next

Yep, it is officially that time of year in West Texas.  The time of year when you are wearing shorts/flip flops one day and then jackets and cold gear the very next day.  Yesterday it was a beautiful 77 degrees here.  Definitely the kind of weather that makes you itch for springtime.  Not to worry though...a major cold front blew through last night and the high today was a warm 40 degrees.

Kallaway was not playing around with the cold weather this morning!!

Spring Picture Day

Today was spring picture day at Idalou ISD.  They will take individual pictures of each child and they also take a group photo of each class.  Here is Miss Priss....all dolled up and ready to go!

How did she get so big?

I LOVE this short dress/long top!!  I sooo wish I could find an adult version for myself to wear with tights!

in like a lion...out like a lamb

You know how the ole saying goes when referencing the month of March..."In like a LION, out like a LAMB!"  I don't know if this saying is true for everywhere in the world, but it certainly is for West Texas!

This picture was taken today as March was "coming in like a lion."  We desperately need some rain to help with our drought conditions or this blowing dirt may drive us all crazy.  Let's pray March certainly goes out like a lamb....quite and calm!!  And please pray for rain!!
