Today was the actual "draft day" for T-ball. Chris decided he wanted to coach Kallaway's team. He went this morning and "drafted" our team. We will be the Idalou Red Sox this year. And we are very excited that our nephews, Coleman and Chisholm, and our niece, Gabby, will all be on our team as well. This will definitely cut down on the number of games our parents and all of us have to attend! :)
We were in Lubbock today after the draft and decided to take Kallaway to practice at a park. Let's just say he is fairly good for his age and he is not scared of the ball at all. That makes this momma a little nervous. While we were "practicing" we kept telling him what to do. It was super funny because my niece, Elizabeth, was with us and was helping him. At one point he was getting ready to bat and she was trying to get his feet lined up properly. She was kicking the back of his heel in order to get him to move his foot up some. Elizabeth told him, "Move your foot up." Kallaway raised his foot completely up and was standing like a flamingo on one leg. We all died laughing. Then he kept missing the ball and Chris told him, "Put your glove down and stop the ball." So, he threw the glove down and tried to catch it with just his hands. We decided quickly that we needed to be more clear with our instructions for his age.
Getting ready to catch the ball.
He is soo excited and ready for his first real game! And, truth be told....so are we. It should be a lot of fun with many laughs. I see many, many baseball games in my future. And I honestly wouldn't want it any other way!
